Lag Bolts
LAG BOLTS are often referred to as lag screws. Lag bolts are not like other bolts. They look like a screw rather than a bolt with their pointed end instead of the more common blunt end found on other bolts. Lag bolts / screws may be made out of steel, stainless steel, silicon bronze, or hot-dipped galvanized to accommodate any and all projects needed. Mostly used in the construction field, lag bolts are also commonly used for a variety of projects in and out of the home. Lag bolts are made from a variety of types and grades to suffice for the abundance of applications lag bolts are used. Below are just a couple of the common bolt and screw types including stainless steel screws/bolts, silicone bronze, zinc-plated, and hot dipped galvanized bolts. Common Types of Lag Bolts / Screws Zinc-plated bolts / screws: Moderate protection against rust. Stainless steel 18-8 screws / bolts: Stainless steel is the material of choice for exterior and marine applications is produced from an alloy of steel with a high corrosion resistance. Silicone bronze screws / bolts: Used in wood boat building this alloy of copper has better strength and corrosion resistance than brass. Hot dipped galvanized bolts / screws: Much more corrosion resistant than zinc-plated. These thick coated bolts work with galvanized buts for exterior use in the costal areas.
